National Health Information System — Infrastructure Readiness & Performance Planning

The situation

A national health program needed its health information platform — built on DHIS2 — to operate reliably at national scale, with clear security, availability and performance expectations across the whole environment.

The environment

Ubuntu, Nginx, Tomcat, PostgreSQL, DHIS2, storage and network services.

The problem

Production readiness questions across the stack: sizing, reliability, security posture and the operational risks of running health data at national scale.

My investigation

Reviewed the target architecture and its operational layers from Linux and PostgreSQL up through Tomcat, Nginx, security controls and monitoring.

What I did

Defined implementation plans and infrastructure requirements across the stack, and specified secure, resilient architecture expectations for the platform rollout.

The result

A clear readiness and implementation plan covering architecture, security, monitoring and operations for the national rollout.

What I learned

In national-scale health systems, the application is only part of the risk — availability, security and operations decide whether the program succeeds.
