High-Availability Infrastructure Across Two Countries

Designing and deploying resilient multi-site Microsoft infrastructure for a multi-site group.

The situation

A multi-site group needed identity, messaging and file services to remain available across two countries without a single point of failure.

The environment

Active Directory, Exchange, Windows servers, virtualization, storage and site-to-site networking.

The problem

Each site depended on local systems, so an outage at one location could interrupt the whole group.

My investigation

Mapped service dependencies and connectivity between both sites and identified the critical single points of failure.

What I did

Designed and deployed high-availability Microsoft infrastructure across both countries, with virtualization, resilient storage and tested failover.

The result

A resilient multi-site environment with business continuity across both countries.

What I learned

High availability is a design property — it has to be planned per service, not per server.
